FNPH KADUNA UNVEILS SMART DIGITAL PATIENT CARD
The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Kaduna, has unveiled a Smart Digital Patient Card as part of its ongoing digital transformation aimed at improving patient experience, healthcare delivery and administrative efficiency.
The innovation is expected to progressively replace the conventional paper-based patient cards used by patients of the hospital, in line with the management’s vision of achieving a more efficient and increasingly paperless healthcare system.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Aishatu Yusha’u Armiya’u, formally inaugurated the initiative by presenting a digital patient card to a patient during the unveiling ceremony.
The Smart Digital Patient Card contains essential patient information, including biodata, medical history, treatment records and appointment details, thereby providing a convenient means of maintaining and accessing relevant patient information.
Beyond its function as a digital health record, the card is also designed to support seamless financial transactions at designated payment points within the hospital and enable patients to fund their electronic wallets from the comfort of their homes.
Explaining the innovation, the hospital’s ICT Consultant, Mallam Ibrahim, highlighted its features and potential benefits, particularly its capacity to simplify patient transactions and contribute to more efficient service delivery.
The introduction of the digital card represents another milestone in FNPH Kaduna’s digital transformation journey, as the hospital continues to deploy technology to improve the quality, accessibility and efficiency of mental healthcare services.
The unveiling formed part of a media parley and guided tour of the hospital’s facilities organised to showcase institutional achievements and innovations recorded under the leadership of Professor Armiya’u.
The event also provided an opportunity for the Medical Director to highlight key achievements since she assumed office in August 2022 and present the hospital’s strategic priorities for the next phase of its development.
