Brief History of the Hospital
The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Kaduna (FNPH Kaduna) was established as a premier specialized mental health facility in northern Nigeria. From its humble beginnings as a psychiatric treatment clinic, it has evolved into a highly respected center of excellence, delivering advanced diagnostic, rehabilitative, and forensic psychiatric services.
Located in Barnawa, Kaduna, the institution has expanded its scope to incorporate extensive academic clinical training, pioneering the Federal College of Nursing Sciences, which trains hundreds of highly motivated specialist psychiatric nurses annually.
Under the visionary leadership of our Medical Director, Dr. Aishatu Yusha'u Armiya'u, the hospital continues to invest heavily in modern psychiatric facilities, clinical research collaborations, drug abuse rehabilitation units, and community outreach programs to actively dismantle the social stigma associated with mental healthcare.
